Recursor.TV attended LA Comic Con last weekend, October 26-28, 2018, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. As in years past, the convention featured lots of great guests — including actors, filmmakers, and animators, plus enough horror, anime, and comic book vendors to fill the floor of the main hall.
LA Comic Con’s #octoversary falls close enough to Halloween to ensure a lot of great cosplay. This year, anime, horror, and the Hot Topic main stage panel dominated the event.
On Saturday, con attendees got a private screening of Nicholas Cage’s recent horror action feature MANDY. Bill Duke of PREDATOR fame also appears in the movie and was on hand at the con signing autographs for fans.
LA Comic Con used to be billed as Stan Lee’s Comikaze, and it is a much more low-key affair than the mother-of-all-cons to the South. The vendors at LA Comic Con sell everything from indestructible $200 light sabers to hard-to-find vintage comics and collectibles. There’s something for everyone, and although well attended, it’s far more accessible than larger events dominated by corporate sponsors.
